Overview
Following continued growth and an evolving hybrid working model, PRIVATE CLIENT, a leading consultancy firm, appointed DENTON to deliver the design and build of their new Birmingham office. Spread across two floors, the move was driven by a need for increased desk space, enhanced meeting facilities, and an environment that would elevate both employee engagement and company culture.
This was a repeat collaboration, building on the success of a previous project delivered in Manchester, with an equally strong emphasis on incorporating local heritage and identity into the workspace. The Birmingham design took inspiration from the city’s industrial roots, architecture, and rich material palette, resulting in a space that reflects the firm’s values while fostering a strong sense of place.
Solution
DENTON’s solution was to create a space that delivered functional agility while celebrating regional identity. The 8th floor was split into two distinct zones: a front-of-house client suite and an open-plan working area, connected by a central tea point designed to encourage interaction and movement.
On the 9th floor, a vibrant social space was introduced – a multipurpose area supporting everything from informal meetings to town-hall gatherings. A key driver of the design was the client’s hybrid working style, requiring the inclusion of a variety of settings – from focused individual pods to collaborative hubs and team call booths.
To ensure acoustic performance, design impact, and brand alignment, DENTON worked closely with the client team, AV consultants, and acousticians. Attention to detail was evident throughout – from bespoke joinery with aluminium finishes to the inclusion of a PET felt map wall of Birmingham, symbolising regional pride.
