Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation is world-famous for medical breakthroughs and innovation. Their office refurbishment across 3 floors was a chance to create a sustainably conscious space that will support all aspects of the growing Guy’s and St Thomas’ team and their dynamic and diverse work.

Following a client survey for the new space, the team wanted an innovative and dynamic environment to reflect the nature of the organisation. Encouraging staff to look after their mental and physical health through an office that is a comfortable and approachable place for all their partners and represents their organisation.

• Agile areas that enable different ways of working and variety through the working day and support various types of work (e.g., interactive, creative, deep thinking etc.)
  
  
• Uplift the workplace with a comfortable, warm, inviting, homely feel, using a calming pastel palette, biophilia and a chic industrial look

In the office design concept, we wanted to incorporate colourful furniture, decorative objects, and lush plants as a way to create a sense of a ‘home away from home’ with all the resources to carry out their daily tasks seamlessly. Having recently rebranded to make it easier to connect with their staff, patients, and supporters, they also wanted to include their vibrant band colours and graphics into the design to reflect their values.

Each floor was divided into creative, focused and teamwork areas.

Creative – Floor 3

Equipped for team brainstorming, group work, fun and games, team lunches, yoga and more! This floor had a communal tea point, breakout areas, a brainstorming bench, high benches and board updates.

Focused – Floor 4

Designed for focused work, privacy, comfortable, relaxing spaces for solo work and peaceful respite areas. A library space in the central space sets the tone for the floor and creates a calming atmosphere in the office, along with open-plan desking for focused work. Surrounded by private workspace hubs and brainstorming benches specifically designed to stimulate ideas for fundraising.

Teamwork – Floor 5

A welcoming space fitted with client touch down desks to connect staff with clients, guests and partners making valuable business decisions. This space is fitted with a client lounge, meeting rooms and board rooms for more formal engagements.
