Overview
Optimising Efficiency and Sustainability
Amnesty International, the world’s leading human rights organisation, undertook a project to restructure its office space, transitioning from four levels to three to optimise efficiency and facilitate the leasing of one floor to an incoming tenant. The primary objectives were to raise the building’s EPC rating from an E to a B. This involved a complete design of the existing services infrastructure, which included new installation of the mechanical and electrical systems to reduce carbon emissions.

Solution
Revitalising for a Reinvigorated Environment
Structural enhancements played a crucial role, with a refurbishment of the existing roof to facilitate the new energy-efficient condensed main building plant, ensuring the project’s main objective was achieved. In order to provide a more open, bright space, we exposed the services and removed low ceilings on all levels. The complete refurbishment of WC’s new floor finishes and decorations with graphics and joinery refreshed the space.
Sustainability was a key focus of the project, with material selections and energy performance services. Where feasible, existing furniture was incorporated into the scheme to minimise wastage and promote eco-conscious practices.
As part of the project, the DENTON team developed a comprehensive strategy to foster a more collaborative environment and enhance staff wellbeing. The refurbished office underwent a transformation that prioritised the creation of functional spaces to meet diverse needs. These included redesigning a games area, a large, communal break-out area to encourage staff to engage with each other, a multi-faith room, and a dedicated wellbeing area to enhance employee experience and satisfaction. A retreat room was also introduced to provide staff with a designated space for relaxation and rejuvenation.
