Supporting Future Talent: DENTON Hosts MMU Interior Design Careers Sessions - DENTON

At DENTON, we believe in investing in the future of our industry – and last week, we were proud to welcome Interior Design students from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) into our Manchester headquarters for two days of immersive learning.

The sessions were designed to offer students real-world insight into what it means to work in a commercial design and fit out practice – and how interior designers interact with the wider professional team to bring spaces to life.

Over the two days, students took part in:

• A presentation by Incognito outlining the full design process for commercial projects, structured around RIBA stages
  
  
• An overview of the wider project team – including key disciplines such as project management, building control, sustainability consultants, and the role of landlord permissions (LLA)
  
  
• A deep dive into procurement – how contractors are selected and what role they play in ‘Detail and Build’ project delivery
  
  
• A live site walk of our Hill Dickinson LLP fit out project at No.1 St Michael’s – a landmark office development in the heart of Manchester
  
  

Throughout the sessions, students engaged with real projects, industry experts, and practical examples to better understand how their skills translate into the commercial workplace.
